Melbourne’s Vance Joy is coming over to the UK for some live dates in February, so we sent her over some questions in order to find out more…
If pushed, how would you describe your music?
Singer/songwriter acoustic.
You’re signed to Infectious Music; how did you come to their attention?
My label in Melbourne has a good relationship with them.
Is there a full album in the works? If so, what can you tell us about it?
Yes, it will be recorded with Ryan Hadlock in Seattle and it will be a good reflection of where my writing is at.
Where can we hear your music online?
YouTube, SoundCloud, Spotify and iTunes.
What have been your most exciting moments and gigs so far?
Splendour in the Grass this year in Byron Bay – that was so fun and exciting. Having cherry pie.
You’re playing several dates in the UK in February – have you played in the UK before, and what can we expect from the dates?
Yes I played in the UK recently, I loved it. I will bring my band this time round so more energy!
Are there any obscure or up-and-coming acts that you’d like to recommend or give a shout-out to?
Yes for sure I like Fraser A Gorman and Bored Nothing from Melbourne, Australia.
Finally, if you were forced to spend the rest of your days in solitary confinement, but were allowed to bring the entire works of five different artists along to tide you over, whose would you choose?
Shakespeare, Mozart, Beatles, Stephen king, Alfred Hitchcock.
Vance Joy, thank you.
