London four-piece Cutthroat Convention recently released Gunfight@the Gates, an album of such berserk, experimental cacophony that you wonder quite how they managed to piece it together, so Rocksucker fired them over some questions in order to find out more about their intriguing operation…

What’s the line-up of the band? How did you all meet, and how long has the band been going for?

Damian – keys/samplers/midi/circuit bent devices
Leon – Vocals
Dave – Electronic drums
Tom – Live drums

Damian and Leon played together in the Void Above, started Cutthroat Convention in 2008 with the intention to make something else/new/different…………Antonio joined on drums & Tomoko on violin this line-up made two EPs, Tomoko left to return to Japan….Lydia joined on violin, this line-up recorded one EP and one single, Lydia left…….the band took a new direction from the start of 2012, more electronics less strings, Antonio left and Dave and Tom joined, first album – Gunfight@the Gates was recorded.

How would you describe your music, if pushed?

Electronic/experimental/heavy/circuit bent/other music

Where are you based, and what do you use to record with?

We are based in west London, we self-record using 8 channel soundcard into a mac laptop.

Are you signed to a label? If so, how did you come to their attention?

We release music on our own Doubledgescissor >8< label Where can we hear your music online?

Which have been your most exciting gigs and/or overall moments so far?

Japan Osaka, played with a great french band GU GUAI XING QUI, really inspiring band…touring Japan was fun and testing of relationships within the band!
