BIGKids at The Ballyhoo BIGKids… Cotch bonnet

Review: BIGKids at The Ballyhoo

Published on May 28th, 2012 | Jonny Abrams

Mr Hudson and Rosie Oddie are back as the dual heads of BIGKids, and they certainly lived up to their new moniker with an ecstatically received show at central London venue The Ballyhoo, formerly The Borderline, on Thursday.

Dripping with exuberance and armed with some big ol’ pop hits in the making, BIGKids laid on the kind of colourful stage show that had the adoring crowd at “hello”, while single “Superhero” provoked such an outbreak of communal singing and dancing that Oddie’s lyrically expressed desire to be a hero when she grows up looks like being fulfilled sooner rather than later. Only a guest appearance by her father Bill and an owl of his choice could make this more grin-inducing – although come to think of it the RSPCA might have something to say about it.

Check out the following images from the night, perhaps while listening to the songs available at soundcloud.com/bigkidsmusic
